Meals, laundry and shopping

  • Canteens and meal delivery: catering companies run site canteens and deliver hot meals to housing. Halal and vegetarian options on request.
  • Laundry: laundry and cleaning companies collect and return laundry weekly, including workwear.
  • Shops: large grocery stores are open every day, usually from 7 to 22. Alcohol is sold until 21. Stronger drinks are sold only by the state alcohol monopoly, which is closed on Sundays.
  • Pharmacies keep shop hours. There is a pharmacy with extended hours in the city centre.

Questions people ask

Can workers share rooms?

Shared rooms are common for short stays. For longer stays the construction sector collective agreement requires, among other things, a room of one's own. The Occupational Safety Administration's page on accommodation conditions has the details.

Who pays for the housing?

Normally the employer. Whether any of the cost can be charged to the worker is regulated. The Occupational Safety Administration explains the rules for posted workers.

How far ahead should we book?

For 50 beds or more, months ahead. Capacity in the region is limited, and the city expects thousands of workers by summer 2027.

Does this site book or take a commission?

No. It lists providers and forwards requests. You contract directly with the provider.

Can we bring our own modular housing?

Possibly, on a suitable plot and with the required permits. Modular and container housing providers are in the directory. The municipality's building control decides on permits.
